Despite inclement weather for most of the Festival, the Balloon Spectacular received tremendous media attention again in 2010 and proved that Canberrans and visitors from around the globe love this annual event!
More than 40 pilots and 30 balloons participated in the Festival in 2010. We were especially fortunate to have Mister Bup- a special shaped Turtle join us from Belgium and a team of pilots from Hong Kong.
More than 20,000 people attended the Festival over the 9 day period, with the largest crowds recorded on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March. Sunday 14 March was a particularly special day, with the Belconnen Lions Club recording their biggest day ever in more than 20 years! A fantastic achievement!
The Special Events Unit thank our major sponsor Barlens, as well as Fujitsu, Hotel Heritage and ELGAS for their continued support of the Festival. We also extend thanks to the Belconnen Lions Club, SES Belconnen Unit, St John Ambulance Volunteers, Gen Plus, Eclipse Lighting and Sound, the Southern Tablelands 4WD Club and SNP Security for their contribution to the Balloons in 2010.
We can't wait for 2011!

Proudly presented by ACTTAB and the ACT Government, the 2010 Celebrate in the Park event was a great success with 25,000 coming down to Commonwealth Park throughout the afternoon and evening to participate in Canberra's big 97th birthday party.
Roary the Racing car kept the little ones and even parents amused while local bands and headline acts, Dragon, Cassie Davis and Eskimo Joe rocked Stage 88. This line-up is one of the biggest the event has seen. Of course, a mesmerising fireworks display lit up the sky above Stage 88 to finish off what had been a great day.
Celebrate in the Park will return in 2011 with details coming at a later stage.
