Canberra and Region Heritage Festival

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 constitutional referendum that saw Indigenous Australians finally included in the census. The festival’s theme 'Questions & Change' will commemorate this historic event with over 100 events, talks, workshops and activities. Be enchanted by local Aboriginal artists, tour through an 1860s homestead or find yourself immersed in your family history.  

Held Tuesday 18 April to Sunday 7 May across various locations in Canberra.

The Play That Goes Wrong

As the title suggests everything that can go wrong...does! The accident-prone thespians battle on against all the odds to get to their final curtain call with hilarious consequences! This play has won more awards than we care to name and has played to packed houses in the West End.

Held Tuesday 25 to Sunday 30 April at the Canberra Theatre Centre.


The Gothic horror story Dracula swoops into Canberra with a critically-acclaimed production. This gripping play will have you on the edge of your seats.

Held Wednesday 26 April to Saturday 29 April at the Canberra Theatre Centre.

Canberra International Music Festival

It's not just the way it sounds. It's the way it feels.Being up close. Following the journey of a piece of music from start to finish. That's the Canberra International Music Festival. Intimate performances, exceptional musicianship, in some of the capital's most iconic settings.

Held 27 April to 7 May at various locations across Canberra.

Ignite Walk Canberra

Experience Canberra in a whole new light as you raise money for those living with cerebral palsy. Challenge yourself with a 7km, 14km or 21km walk as you explore a neon wonderland. Dress in your best neon, get your face painted with glow in the dark patterns and grab a bite to eat before enjoying live music. Remember to keep an eye out for live entertainment and light installations.

Held Friday 28 April at Patrick White Lawns from 6pm to midnight. Tickets are available now.

Giants v Western Bulldogs

The stage is set for a massive AFL preliminary final replay in the nation’s capital. The Giants are out for redemption in what is predicted to be a blockbuster match.

Held Friday 28 April at Manuka Oval from 7:50pm to 10pm. Tickets are available now.

Night at the Museum: Heroes and Villains

Calling all veiled villains and caped crusaders! Are you ready for a Night at the Museum? Release your inner alter ego. Go disguised as your favourite superhero or scandalous villain and prepare for a night of superhero-sized adventures, uneasy alliances and unexpected action.

Held Saturday 29 April at the National Museum of Australia from 6pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are available now. This is an 18+ only event.

Artist in Residence Open Day

Enjoy a free day out at Namadgi National Park and gain inspiration from 2017 Craft ACT Artist-in-Residence Marilou Chagnaud in a workshop teaching folding and weaving techniques with paper inspired by textiles. Word to the wise, there will be a free charter bus to take visitors from Civic Square to the national park.

Held Saturday 29 April at Namadgi Visitors Centre from 9:45am onwards. The free bus will depart from Civic Square at 8:30am, returning by 3:40pm. Bookings are essential.

Plus500 Brumbies v Blues

The Brumbies will be looking to get revenge after suffering a big loss to the Blues in Auckland in 2016. Be part of the action as you cheer on your team to victory.

Held Sunday 30 April at GIO Stadium from 4pm to 6pm.

Above and Beyond

Looking for something to entertain the whole family?Questaconhas you covered. Design and test-fly your own supersonic jet, spread your wings and experience flight as a bird, or soar into space for a spectacular 360-degree view of earth at their new exhibition exploring flight.

Held Saturday 25 March to Sunday 23 July at Questacon from 9am to 5pm.

Events to look forward to...

National Capital Rally

Drivers will be pushed to the limit, tackling some of the best roads Australia has to offer. Get up close to international motor sport stars and feel the adrenaline of this fast passed rally.

It all kicks off on Friday afternoon with a ceremonial meet and greet of the teams at Hotel Realm, before heading out to the forest for a weekend of sport. Spectating is free throughout the weekend with plenty of activities for little and big kids alike across the spectator points.
